The Buhle restaurant, in Oporto, is among the five finalists of the "Best New Restaurant" contest, thus becoming the only nominated restaurant in the European continent.
Promoted by Wallpaper magazine - specialized in lifestyle, art, design, architecture and fashion - the "Best New Restaurant" contest is considered a reference in the world elite, where the Buhle restaurant is the only Portuguese representative.
Inaugurated in November 2008, the restaurant presents a new concept and recovers an emblematic space in Porto, the old Bule, that appeared in the 70's as tea house and that since the 80's has became a reference restaurant of the traditional gastronomy in the “Invincible” City.
In a privileged location, next to the Foz, with a view of the sea as far as the eye can see, the space was renewed by the architect Miguel Ribeiro de Sousa and decorated by the designer Paulo Lobo. The concept is pioneer: besides the restaurant, the responsibility of Chef Rodrigo Garret, the Buhle also has a bar that offers more than 300 cocktails with worldwide references, and a tea house, with more than 40 types of tea.
The remaining nominees are Buenos Aires (Argentinean), Chicago (U.S.A.), Săo Paulo (Brazil) and Seoul (Corea of the South). The Buhle restaurant in Oporto is the only European nominee.
