From the 21st of November of 2009 to the 28th of February of 2010, the National Palace of Ajuda, in Lisbon, receives the Exhibition “Reference pieces from Madeira's Museums”. The exhibition shows 500 Years of History of an Archipelago as consequence of the main history cycles, between the 15th century and the beginning of the 20th century. The exhibition unites sculpture, painting, ceramics and photography, as well as furniture and jewellery, reflecting the strategic importance of the archipelago in the context of Portuguese expansion.
