This Spring, Sintra and Estoril Coast will the home to the Laureus World Sports Awards, the equivalent to the Sports Oscars.

Between the 8th and 12th May, in Estoril, 42 of the biggest sportsmen of all times, who annually decide through their votes who will receive the Laureus World Sports Awards, will distribute the awards in the following categories: World Sportsman of the Year, World Team of the Year, World Revelation of the Year, World Return of the Year, World Alternative Sportsman of the Year and World Para-Olympic Sportsman of the Year.

The Estoril and Sintra Coast will live two days full of events, namely the Laureus Golf Challenge, the Laureus Tennis Challenge, the Laureus Surf Festival, which will take place at the Guincho beach, and the traditional Laureus Regatta, which attracts the best world sailors, at Baía de Cascais.

According to the organization, several of the members of the Laureus World Sports Academy, namely Severiano Ballesteros, Boris Becker, Franz Beckenbauer, Sergey Bubka, Bobby Charlton, Nadia Comaneci, Emerson Fittipaldi, Michael Johnson, John McEnroe, Edwin Moses, Martina Navratilova, Gary Player and Katarina Witt, will participate in this unique event.

The sports events and the awards ceremony (which will take place in Centro Cultural de Belém) should gather more than 300 journalists from all over the world and obtain a television audience of 320 millions of viewers.
