On the next 11th May, the Forte de S. Julião da Barra , in Oeiras, will be the home to the multi-cultural event “Dalí – Uma Paleta de Sabores” of Arts, Gastronomy and Solidarity, scheduled for the celebration of the birth of the Spanish artist.

The event will take place in the historical fortress designed in the 16th century which was one of the most important Portuguese warfare centres and will be organized by the two Artists Luís Viera Baptista and Ricardo Carriço and will be sponsored by several Portuguese and foreign companies and institutions, such as: Câmara Municipal de Oeiras, National Ministry of Defense, Embassy of Spain, Fundação Gala-Dalí de Moscovo – Russia, ARTEH® – Hotels and Resorts, 4D – Imagem e Promoção de Eventos, Escola Superior de Hotelaria do Estoril, Restaurant Olivier in Lisbon, Club Gourmet of El Corte Inglés and a Television Channel to be designated.

The two Artists, bearing in mind the Fortress’ reservoir space, have created, for this event, pieces that were materialized in a mixed work of painting and sculpture. The pieces in exhibition are supported by such diverse materials as wood and canvas, oil and acrylic painting, steel and plaster, to name a few. The bigger pieces will be exhibited outside.

Since Dali has always used and defended food as a very present theme in his work, the organization has created an Edible Installation as an homage to that aspect of the artist’s work, through a surrealist banquet where the most sublime delicacies will be tasted in the most artistic and least predictable way.

A multiple of sculpture and a lithography, author’s proof, Dalí originals, will be drawn in the presence of the Governo Civil de Lisboa and the amount made through this drawing of lots will be donated to an Institution on Social Solidarity.
