The 2011 Traditional Flavours Route was launched this Saturday, Janeiro 29th 2011 in the city of Évora.
The initiative results from the joint organization of the Alentejo Tourism Board and of the council of Évora, along with the conference "Gastronomical Tourism in Alentejo - New Experiences".
The objective of this initiative is to increase the number of tourists in the city that is assumed as the exponent of the regional gastronomy, which is currently one of the main reasons of visits to this destination.
One of the novelties of the 2011 edition, is the highlighting of the Pastéis de Santa Clara de Évora, "a convent sweet which is being forgotten but that the organizers want to revitalize by organizing training sessions for the city's main pastry chefs".
