In the scope of the “I’m a Fashion Addict of ARTEH® Hotels!” initiative, we publish the most recent interview of the pair of fashion designers Os Burgueses.

Get to know the motivations of Os Burgueses, as well as the tendencies, the fashion world and an experience of charm in the classical and contemporary atmosphere of the Hotel Infante Sagres, an ARTEH® Hotel in Oporto.

What do you think of the initiative launched by ARTEH® - Hotels and Resorts, “I'm a Fashion Addict of ARTEH® Hotels!”?

Fashion is no more than an analysis and a recreation of society´s customs and ways. Fashion is interconnected with everything. And when two things of good taste join the initiative can only result in something positive and charm is the igniter of these two worlds.

In your opinion is there a link/connection between fashion and charm hotels?

Everything depends on the creative motivation. There are those who only focus on wardrobe construction and there are those who like to think of fashion as a complete universe. In the OS BURGUESES fashion brand we could not separate these things. Life is a web of interconnections that can´t live without one another. If such a project arose, we would be very pleased to accept the challenge and see part of our creative universe grow.

Do you believe that fashion designers should participate more in the decoration of our hotels? Of course these are different areas, but when the fashion designer creates or promotes a tendency for clothing in a certain season, can he not widen it to the decoration of spaces, in this case hotels?

In our opinion, designers are anxious to get to work, to have new sources of inspiration, to be able to take their creativity to another level. They are only waiting for proposals.

Regarding hotel tendencies, more and more people search for native products, authentic and national products. That is, they want to come to Portugal, and find a hotel that breaths Portugal and not something standard that they could find in Paris or New York. Do you see yourself contributing towards the decoration of a hotel project made in Portugal?

It would be a delicious challenge.

Continuing with the tendencies. Green care is without a doubt a tendency that came to stay. How does this concern affect your work?

We would like to give this tendency more attention, but the resources in Portugal aren´t generally accessible and at times become very expensive. If we consider the business and its profit margins it is still a tendency for future tendencies.

Did you enjoy your stay in the ARTEH® Hotel – Hotel Infante Sagres? What did you like most, during your stay in the hotel?

As young 25 and 26 year olds, at the beginning at our careers, and with tight budgets as well, the experience was like a cherry on the cake. Having come out of a stressful moment with the finalization and presentation of our 2012 Summer collection, a moment of rest and relaxation was given to us in a luxurious, calm and peaceful environment. The art of good taste present all around the hotel adds to its location in one of the most lively areas of Porto by night. Overall, the experience was perfect.

What is your opinion about the hotels decoration? What sensations or emotions were awakened?

We like modern and bold spaces, and in the hotel's decoration we find the classic with a twist that has also come up frequently in our work (and thus the pleasure we derived from the choice of hotel). The mixture of classical and contemporary pieces gives a modern, charm touch.

What are your sources of inspiration or places that stimulate your creativity, during the creation of a new collection?

In the OS BURGUESES fashion brand we have a motto: Everything in life is a source of inspiration. We believe that it is when one observes the world with a critical eye that one discovers the new in unusual places. In each collection we try to find different paths, distinct sources and uncommon situations. It is in this constant search that our biggest source of inspiration resides.

How can we define the Os Burgueses style?

The OS BURGUESES style has been defining itself as classic / casual with a twist.
