This year, Portugal has the privilege of having one of its magnificent cities as European Capital of Culture 2012; this title was attributed to Guimarães, Portugal's cradle city.
 
Until the 31st of December 2012, the city of Guimarães will promote the cultural diversity that distinguishes Europe, presenting a varied program of music, cinema, photography, plastic arts, architecture, literature, theater, dances and street art.
