Itinerary in Lisbon by ARTEH® - Part 1
13 Jul 2012

The vacation that you have always dreamt of. The brief, but marvellous moments, are nearer and within your reach.

Savour what surrounds you, move away from "normality", exceed yourself and above all have fun - alone or accompanied. Create your own safe haven, far from everything that worries you.

A different day in (your) Lisbon!
Go up to the magnificent São Jorge Castle, do a Sight-Seeing Tour the neighbourhood and take advantage of being next door to relax on the Solar do Castelo terrace. Have a soft drink, a coffee and take the opportunity to update your reading or start a new romance in the patios of the Solar. Profit from Lisbon’s famous light.

Visit the hotel, an old and noble mansion built under the old Kitchen of the Paços da Alcáçova - a refined and imposing space.  With only 14 rooms and decorated by the Gracinhas, this boutique hotel delights all kinds of clients.

From here leave in search of a different experience, something that awake the senses, of smell and taste… a refined lunch, cooked by chef Olivier and served in the Tivoli Jardim. Is your mouth watering yet?
Accompany it with a glass of good wine.

Once you are satisfied we suggest a walk round downtown Lisbon (“Baixa”), Rossio, Restauradores and a ride on the Santa Justa Elevator - dazzle yourself with Lisbon’s landscape.

On another day…
Did you enjoy reading “Os Maias” romance, of its intelligent, unusual and sinister characters?  And the place where it all happened - the Ramalhete palace?
Well then; our next suggestion is the hotel that is said to have been inspired by the palace of the Maia family: As Janelas Verdes. Its exterior and interior decoration have many resemblances to the Maia mansion, and the boutique hotel is full of allusive pieces to writer Eça of Queiroz.

Pay a visit to the hotel; walk through its interior, glimpse the large painting exhibition related to Eça. After a cultural morning, have a brunch in the Hotel’s restaurant - you won’t regret it.  At this point we suggest a visit to the Arte Antiga Museum and see some of the exhibitions available, choose between painting and European art, collections of Portuguese jewellery, pottery and glass and Portuguese sculpture, then have your afternoon tea at York House, an old Convent, an ancient place which was converted into boutique hotel due to its romantic climate. Get to know the place where several famous personalities, such as John Le Carré, Marcello Mastroiani and Marguerite Duras, have stayed.

Now we suggest a different sunset, a panoramic view over the city of Lisbon, in a luxurious charm hotel, a hotel which receives one warmly, as if one was part of it: the Bairro Alto Hotel situated in Praça Luís de Camões.

A hotel renown for its view over the city, was inclusively awarded as having the 4th best view (in the World) over the city and by thus attracting thousands of tourists. To complete the view, there is nothing like a candle lit dinner with your better half. We hope you will be convinced when you go.

Our hints are given, take advantage of Summer with the ARTEH® Hotels.

Good vibes and good holidays!
