Circuit, the pioneering Lifestyle/Fashion event in Barcelona, is taking second residence with its Iberian neighbour, Lisbon, in association with ARTEH and the Luxury Hotels Aviz, Bairro Alto Hotel, Palácio Belmonte, Pestana Palace and York House. “Lisbon is the next Barcelona....” - Mario Testino, Fashion Photographer About Circuit CIRCUIT’S 1st edition will take place between the 27th and 29th of April at the fruit market Santa Clara, located in the “Feira da Ladra” area. Circuit, the pioneering Lifestyle/Fashion event in Barcelona, is taking second residence with its Iberian neighbour, Lisbon. It comes right at the moment when the cultural energy of this grandiose city is ready to explode in such diverse areas such as Gastronomy, Architecture, and Modern/Traditional Concepts. Circuit is an event that will reflect this energy in a visionary way. The Project Circuit originated six years ago in 2000 as an innovative idea to create a circuit of events within the framework of a city, originally Barcelona. A platform for emerging talent in Fashion, Art, Music and Gastronomy mixed with jeans and sportswear, itinerary and thematic. Circuit takes place all over the city with different Exhibitions, Fashion Presentations, Videos, Concerts, Exclusive Parties, amongst others. Portugal, Lisbon, Santa Clara fruit market, Graça neighbourhood, 27th, 28th & 29th of April 2006. These are the chosen dates and locations to celebrate Circuit, a unique event. In Portugal, Circuit counts with and thanks the sponsoring from AVIS, ARTEH Hotels and Resorts, Schwarzkopf Professional, Wearplay, Hilfiger Denim, Amoreiras, Lipton, Sveltess and MAC, and the support from FTV, DIF, Rádio Oxigénio and the collaboration of the Câmara Municipal de Lisboa. Circuit is unique for a number of reasons, but it is famous for its theme based events. This spring’s theme is TASTE... Taste Lisbon in three days: EAT - SMELL - DRINK. A mix of sensations and experimentalism, where the intention is to bring the audience to have a new sensorial perspective and experience that is seductive and at the same time, provocative. The proposed “Nucleus” venue for Circuit Taste is the Food Market in the heart of old Lisbon’s “Feira da Ladra” (And old and tradition street Flea Market). Around the area, within walking distance, the audience and the press will be able to experience events, installations and interesting shows that will take place in the market itself, the flea market, an old alley, the façade of an old historical building and an indoor swimming pool. We invite the audience to take the old tram, “Electric number 28” that circulates in the city and can bring everybody to the main entrance where Circuit will take place. About the Hotels Hotel Aviz Well in the centre of Lisbon, the new Hotel Aviz maintains the spirit of the Picoas Palace that had once been its home and symbolised the romantic 1940s Lisbon. Kings, movie actors, spies and the cream of society at the time all came through this hotel due to its reputation of having the most luxurious service and the best restaurant. Bairro Alto Hotel With its eyes set on Luís de Camões Square and very close to the São Carlos National Theatre in Lisbon the luxurious and cosmopolitan Bairro Alto Hotel is implanted into the former Grand Hotel de l’ Europe, where many renowned European artists stayed during the 19th and 20th centuries. Palácio Belmonte Lisbon’s most ancient palace, the Palácio Belmonte, is set in the historical city centre on the hill of the São Jorge Castle. The Palace was built in 1449, incorporating three towers, on a forty metre boulder over the most ancient moor and roman walls in the city. In 1640, the construction of a terrace and five classical façades served to augment the palace. Pestana Palace Located in Alto de Santo Amaro, one of Lisbon’s quietest and luxury residential areas, the Palácio Valle Flor has been reawakened. The new Pestana Palace receives its guests in a stylish 19th century building, former residence of Counts and Marquises now reborn after a long and careful restoration. York House By the Tagus River, in the centre of Lisbon and receiving guests for over a hundred years, the York House resulted from the adaptation of the early 17th century Marianos Convent. When in Lisbon visit the Sé (Cathedral), and take in a view of the city and the Tagus River from the Santa Luzia Belvedere. Climb up to the Castelo de São Jorge (St. George's Castle). Take a taxi or bus to Belém to see the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos (Jerónimos Monastery) and the Torre de Belém (Belém Tower). While in Belém, explore one of the major sights of Lisbon, the Museu Nacional dos Coches (National Coach Museum). |
