Monte do Casal will host a public presentation of a new project “First Private Botanical Garden at Algarve” from 7 to 8 pm on 8th September 2006.
Monte do Casal will hold a Champagne Cocktail Party on Friday 8th September to present the renovated Gardens, Lakes and future Bird Sanctuary, phase I of the new Botanical Garden Project. This is a new environmental concept… “Hotel surrounded by a Private Botanical Garden”. The presentation will take place on the Teak Sundeck Terrace overlooking the beautifully designed Lakes, with two magnificent Waterfalls and Water Fountains.
The evening will begin on the teak sundeck with a Champagne and Canapé Reception, overlooking the Lakes and Waterfalls listening to Eudoro Grade on Classical guitar.
Phase I of the Pine Lake has just been completed along with the four-metre waterfall and the ‘The Sanctuary’. One of the objects of the Pine Lake is to attract bird life and become a bird sanctuary for resident and migrating birds. The lake will be stocked with Koi and Sturgeon fish amongst others with tropical water lilies and marginal plants at either end of the lake. The Lakes area is approximately one thousand two hundred and fifty square metres in size.
The presentation of past, present and future landscape will be the first ecological and educational phase, the whole landscape area is classified as preservation and/or added value to the Monte do Casal Botanical Garden Project.
To ensure that the smooth running of this project and its compatibility Monte do Casal has taken on board the advice from the local and regional authorities who have donated their time and knowledge to this Project. Just to mention a few, Regional Department of Agriculture and Fishing, Municipality of Faro, and Parish of Estoi.
The lakes will be kept full using the guttering from the hotel roof along with other water collection points. Irrigation of the Botanical Garden can be supplemented from the lakes when required. The Botanical Garden is sustainable and will enrich the area.
Monte do Casal is fully committed to the enterprise social responsibility and the first result is that from Estói the junior high school students of the Garden and Green Space Course will be able to do their practical training here and will be one of the first regional authority’s cooperation agreements and protocols to be implemented.
‘The Sanctuary’ built in the middle of the lake can be used for sunbathing, swimming from the lower wooden deck. The guests may also enjoy taking a boat onto the lake, which is tied along side the lower deck. ‘The Sanctuary’ is small and ideal for someone to read a book quietly, meditate or chill out. It is also ideal for couples wanting to be on their own in a romantic setting, glass of wine in hand, watching the sun setting across the lake. |
