This year, starting on the 4th of April, the city of Valencia will be hosting America’s Cup 32nd edition, considered to be the biggest sailing contest in the world. For many people this is more a duel than a regatta, where there is no honor in coming 2nd. Victory is what counts. This is spirit of the oldest prize in sports, a sport that has been named after the first boat to have every won the competition, in 1851, the America.
The competition is divided in two parts, the Louis Vuitton Cup and the Amerca’s Cup Match. During the first part all the teams get together to determine who will challenge last year’s trophy winner. The America’s Cup, puts last years winner and this year’s challenger, side by side, giving the spectator an impressive show of the art of navigation.

Teams like BMW Oracle Racing and the Emirates Team New Zealand will gladiate through the waters of Valencia in order to take the trophy from the Alinghi team, who will be defending it at all cost.
King Ruan Carlos himself, and the Prince Filipe de Bordoun, both fans of sailing, will start the race. Accompanying them will be practically the whole royal family, who are not only fans but also excellent sailors, and usually assist all the regattas in Spain.
