Starting on the 28th of June, the Sailing World Championship will take place along Cascais Bay until the 13th of July. This is the result of Cascais’s outstanding organizational skills and the success of previous sailing events and other sporting competitions held in the area. This event set spot lights on Cascais, a village in the center of the country, only 20 minutes from Lisbon and Sintra, along the Estoril Coast, the European award winning Golf destination, also known as the Portuguese Riviera, making way for roughly 1500 sailors, from all over the world and 1000 entries that include 11 different Olympic Classes. Portugal’s coastline is one of the most extensive in the world, and ISAF’s Championship has brought Cascais a key opportunity to enhance that fact, as well as promote the countries recognized ability in promoting sporting events. Nothing is by chance, as the organization entities have carefully taken care of all the details, being fully aware of the importance of the Championship’s outcome. In partnership with the Portuguese Sailing Federation, Cascais Naval Club and Cascais Municipality, Portugal Vela 2007 has ensured the very best conditions for all the involved entities to produce a fare competition, a fun event and “pleasant onshore venues”.
