The PGA of Portugal, its events partner Best Golf Corporation (BGC) and some of the Algarve’s finest golf courses, have joined forces to present the Pro Golf Portugal Winter Tour - PGP Winter Tour, starting November 20th 2007 and ending February the 2nd 2008.
The event is open to all PGA Professionals and Elite Amateurs, of a maximum 132 players per field and the series will take place in the Algarve during 4 events from the 20th of November to the 12th of December, and during 5 events in 2008 from the 16th of January to the 2nd of February.
The prize money is 225,000.00 EUR which will be distributed to the Top 30 finishers per event.
The PGP Winter Tour’s prime objective is to provide golf professionals across Europe the opportunity to hone their games, compete and prepare themselves for national, regional and even second and third level tour’s across Europe, on quality golf courses in Portugal.
European Tour players currently come to the Algarve to prepare for the season because of the excellent practice and playing conditions, and hope fully the PGP Winter Tour will serve as a springboard for future stars of European golf.
The tournaments will be played at some of the best courses in both these regions where European Challenge Tour, Senior Tour and Ladies Tour events are held such as the 3 Pestana Golf courses, the 2 Quinta da Ria courses, some mature and historic venues such as Alto Golf, Benamor and Castro Marim, and the Algarve’s latest Seve Ballesteros addition, Quinta do Vale Golf Club.
