Cape Town March Festival 2008
24 Oct 2007

Hot at the best of times, Cape Town welcomes a wave of sizzling talent throughout the region in March, as the annual Cape Town Festival sets the city alight. Featuring the best in original South African and international music, performance, public art, comedy, spoken word and visual arts, the event provides a rich slice of culture for all generations to enjoy.

The festival encompasses such popular events as the Company Gardens Festival, the Night Vision carnival and the In Touch community project. Every key theatre, gallery, museum, club and open space plays a part in this mammoth cosmopolitan celebration.

Officially opened in the main festival district located around the historic Company Gardens, the event showcases the open-air Human Rights Day concert and the African Summer stage. Throughout the festival, an eclectic mix of arts and culture is presented across a range of genres from modern to classic, by artists from South Africa and beyond.

Established theatres host a range of productions, museums provide unique visual arts experiences and literary events take place in educational institutions, from universities to libraries. There are also comedy events or, if you prefer a dance, there are plenty of hot salsa and tango rhythms to be found.

The city is committed to bringing the arts to the masses and making the festival as accessible as possible. Consequently, virtually all events are free and those that have an entrance fee are very reasonably priced.
