The Condé Nast Traveler has elected Portugal, in 2013 and for the first time, as the world's best travel destination.

The landscape, gastronomy and beaches were important factors in the judges´ decision, which highlights the sympathy of the Portuguese, describing them as "a fundamental ingredient" and reveals that "the Portuguese seduce us with their charm and sympathy."

In the review about this distinction, the magazine speaks about "the special charm which is visible in the country´s traditions, with cities which combine modernity with a visible weight of history, landscapes and beaches which reconcile us with Nature".
