Mas Passamaner in La Selva del Camp, Tarragona, is one of the hotels nominated for Condé Nast Johansens Award of Excellence for best Design and Innovation, held this year on the 6th of November in London.
Condé Nast Johansens is a highly recognized hotel guide, part of the British publisher responsible for Brides, CNtraveller, Easy Living, Glamour, GQ, GQ Style, House & Garden, Interiors, Johansens, Tatler, Vanity Fair and Vogue that recommends the very best hotels from over 50 different countries.
Mas Passamaner lays in a rural setting of 20.000 square meters, originally conceived by the well known architect, Domčnech i Muntaner. The building, an undisputed Architectural beauty, is one of the most worthy representations of the Modernist period, mainly due to the improvements carried out by Ángel García Puertas, the visionary ideologist of the hotel as it currently is.
As a principle characteristic of his work, García Puertas possesses the ability to innovate and combine character elements with other elements and concepts rooted throughout time. His respect for the classical movement, incorporated with modernised ideas has allowed the creation of special places and beauty such as Mas Passamaner.
In 1997 the same Ángel Garcia Puertas was awarded for another of his works the Hotel Finca de la Salinas, in the classification “Best Rural Hotel”.
Mas Passamaner received a nomination in 2003 for the Best Restoration award (one of great value to the hotel thanks to its Restaurant La Gigantea headed by Joaquin Koerper), by Iniciativas Hoteleras. And now, in 2006 the Hotel has been put forward as a possible winner of the Condé Nast Johansens award.
However, whether the hotel actually receives the award of Excellence for Hotel - Best Design and Innovation or not, just the fact of being a finalist for such a prestigious award and position in a recommended hotel guide, has stimulated Mas Passamaner to continue caring for the quality of the hotel.
